Asked for a set with both freeview and freesat, wanted to up grade from my KDL40W Having spent an hour or so trying to set it up freesat gave up and looked at this site for a solution. Sony just need to write their software correctly. The Bravia 49xC that I purchased on boxing day has this problem and other inconsistencies in the software.
The Sony spec states that it has both terestrial and Satalite tuners, which it has, great no need for a seperate satalite box. All off the program information is available for each satalite chanel.
If you are watching a particular chanel and click guide, all of the programing information for that chanel is displayed. However many of the other chanels, which seem to be ordered in the order the satalite tuned to them, and not any logical order, show No information.
If you click on any of the chanels showing No info available in the EPG, and then select to view the chanel in the pup up window, that program running on that particular satalite chanel is displayed. If you then again click the guide button, all of the program information is there in the guide.
So it apears that the program information from the satalite is only downloaded to the Sony satalite EPG when a chanel is selected. Somewhat missing the point of an electronic program guide. Therefore in my opinion Sony need to provide a satalite EPG that populates with all of this available satalite program information in a sensible format when the TV is powered on, like Freesat boxes do. This information should be stored in memory, only needing changes to be downloaded when next powered on.
This could be an update to the built in guide, a revision of the You View app, or a seperate Satalite Guide Android app. I personaly bought this TV precicesly because it has both terestrial and satalite tuners built in as I live in an area with no retestrial signal.
I am astonished that a premium brand like Sony think it is ok to only provide a descent EPG for terestrial chanels, whilst expecting satalite users to put up with a useles EPG. Sony need to pull their finger out and fix this urgently as a software upgrade. The question is when will sony update the software to provide a descent user friendly satalite EPG? At the moment i am just clicking on Guide, then TV Selections and just selecting from the popular on air and tonight sections.
Just spent quid on a TV with a usless guide. I have every right to be anoyed and feel missled.

Sony can and should fix this. Why would any manufacturer quote a satalite and terestrial tuner is bulit in in their spec, from which a reasonable person would asume the satalite tuner also has a working gide, and then simply not bother to provide a working system, there is no excise.
Sony must fix this or loose custom. I also have the older model in which the same problem is solved by the "launch and search" option but this is not available on the newer AndroidTV. This is simply poor implementation. Lots of useful feature in the newer TVs but you have to get the basics right first Sony, first and foremost it is a A8 engine diagram diagram base website engine diagram and that is what most users expect.
I bought a new Sony becasue the model worked as I wanted but now find that the newer model is a retrograde step in terms pf the Guide information.Toggle navigation YouView Community. I have a Sony android TV with Yourview included, however the channel guide keeps displaying 'Information not available' for certain channels. How can I resolve this in order to view the full channel listings?

My mothers 10year old freeview tv works better. Alantheastro said:. You have tried the Factory Reset? It would be better called an acknowledged problem. But either way, this all takes time. When will it be fixed? When all of the above has been accomplished. My guess is weeks. My mother's 10 year old freeview tv works better. Do you think she would be prepared to swap? And would you, really?
If there is a workaround found, or a fix developed, then it will likely be described here, or in one of the related threads. I also have the same issue on the Sony kdxc. Resets have not resolved the problem. Same problem with KDXD Can access iplayer etc for back programmes but the "Youview Guide" is almost useless. It would be useful if Youview could update us all regularly as to what is going on and what is being done about it.
To date I've spent money replacing TP links, ethernet cables etcall to no avail. Sarah is there any update on this issue? Sign In or Register to comment.Bravia model KDXC.
About 2 weeks old. It was working fine from the start until about 3 or 4 days ago when checking the guide all the channels showed 'Information not available'.
After a few minutes the information was working normally again until this morning All channels show 'Information not available' and when watching a program a sign appears telling me that the tv is not comnected to the internet, then about 1 or 2 miutes later a sign appears telling me that the tv is connected to the internet yet at no time has any 'information' become available. I have looked through the self help and the system informs me that the tv is connected and the signal strength is excellent.
I have tired resetting the tv from the begining but to no avail. This tv was not cheap and I am not very impressed. All other items that use the router are all functioning normally at the same time the tv is not. Any solutions? Thats a bug of these TV sets. EPG does not load as a separate function same way with other TVs or boxes. A reboot or a power losserases all previously loaded EPGs. One channel of every TP must be accessed again. Interactive TV Services is somehow improved in latest firmwares.
Works exellent for my satellite channels. Red, blue or other RC buttons if internet is available. Previously we had to press the green lines Teletext button on RC.
I am not sure if this is transmition improvement or a Sony improvement. Could you advise, in plain simple language what procedure I should follow to eradicate the problem. This afternoon the 'not connected to the interent' message appears for about 10 - 15 seconds and then the 'connected to the internet' message appears. The sequence is then repeated for about 2 - 10 minutes although it could take longer.
There was about 2 weeks since the first bout to the the second which is happening now about What I can understand from your issue description is that you have a WiFi or an internet provider issue. This will then change your EPG to the one supplied by Gracenote. Also the TV has been rebooting randomly since then. Should I do a factory reset? Will this revert to the earlier software version? Thanks for any help. Not only is the guide incredibly unresponsive and laggy, it also contains ZERO programme information.
The only way to get the guide to show anything is to bring up the guide then manualy scroll down each channel one by one, opening each channel one at a time.
Once you have done this, the guide will then magically show you Now and Next information for each channel, but only now and next, no other listings for later in the day. The problem is though, that you are lucky to be able to scroll through doing the above without the guide freezing or in one instance outright crashing.
Also, if you power off the TV at the mains at any point all of the guide information is lost and you have to start again.
I do think I remember seeing the gracenote guide as discussed above when I first got the TV, but I appear to be unable to find it anywhere since. EPG not retrieving information. Seems to be a software problem. Needs to be fixed! I'm also looking for the options in the guide to get the Gracenote EPG and cannot find it can anyone help? Please bare in mind of the dates on some threads. This thread is not relevent to TVs - hence no Gracenote.
I purchased a 49xC yesterday and have exactly the same problem. No terrestrial TV signal in my area so have used satellite boxes for years with no problem However the Sony guide does not populate information about what is on except on channels tuned into.
If I click a channel showing no information then select to watch it the guide then populates, so it looks to me as if the software is not downloading all of this info correctly from the satellite. The other app that is a TV listing guide does not work with satellite at all so I have bought a TV without the most basic functionality, i. This is very poor. I have also had the blank screen when selecting the satellite and had to re boot the TV to make this work and a non-responsive remote control and the out of sync sound mentioned in other posts.
This Android software is clearly not ready for release. Not good enough Sony, when are these problems going to be fixed? I have responded to both of them as well as someone else did too. I have a Talktalk Youview box and a Humax et top box and if I use these to watch the television there is no problem.
Why do I need to keep doing a digital retune. How do I do a update on this set and what is the latest version. My current software's number is. I will try to find out how you can resolve this and update you here when I have more news for you. I think there are two things left to do.
First, try manual tunning instead of auto tunning. Second, try adjusting the aerial position and if possible, check the TV with a different aerial. If the issue remains after all of this, maybe the TV needs to get inspected by a service centre as it could be a hardware issue.
I may have stumbled across the solution to this guys! Give it a second or two and it then updates not only this channel with the event info, but also ALL the others that were missing!!
It's as if this is the key channel to unlocking the data. It works for me and as such a simple solution I thought I'd offer it up to you to try! Good luck! Community Share your experience! Fix it guys, it's a pain. I have had this problem for a while and eventually contacted Sony after trying all the fixes listed as "Solves". They didnt work for me. When you have done that remove power from mains for at least 2 minutes. Next with just your ariel connected you can re connect your power and switch tv on.
This should now have sorted the problem. After trying all the "fixes" including the factory reset and contacting Sony only to be told that the TV has a fault and needs to go to a sony repair shop, I decided to try a few more times, manually tuning the tv worked and returned all the EPG information, but only for a day, repeated manual tuning every morning kept the information until you turn off the set.
This wasnt good enough and was also a chore to do each day, so it was on to the next try. I then replaced the ariel lead direct to tv and did an auto tune.
This to my supprise gave me all my EPG information. The TV was turned off overnight as usual and i really didnt expect it to still have all the info, but it did and has kept it now for 3 days and counting, I re connected the scart lead which has DVD and Video players connected to it and when I turned off the set and back on again ther was the problem back of "No Information" on the EPG.
So the fault has been found and rectified except fot the Scart connections which I will look into at a later date, but the TV is working and the EPG is retaining all the info. Hope this helps as it was driving me crazy and I didnt want to pay Sony for a non existant fault.
The previous fix I posted failed due to my error. I may have stumbled across the solution to this guys! Give it a second or two and it then updates not only this channel with the event info, but also ALL the others that were missing!!
It's as if this is the key channel to unlocking the data. It works for me and as such a simple solution I thought I'd offer it up to you to try! Good luck!Simply go to a sat channel in general satellite press guide on remote press action menu highlight broadcast type and there are three selections "digital" is for freeview epg "general sat" is for now and next epg and the one we all want " set top box " brings up all channels full 7 day EPG!!
Sony have sold us all a blatantly non operational set of features on these sets. We should go for a class action and sue them blind! Alternatively they could simply admit they have a problem and do us all the courtesy of fixing it! I had this message on Free view, also programme guide disappeared. This also also allows you to remove analogue channels so you no longer get a blank screen if you accidentally press analogue on the remote.
My experience is that the "Set Top Box" is not available when pressing the Action Menu on th eboarcast type. I have only the Digital and General Sat. I can only assume you have a STB set Top Box connected or you have tuned using a different mechanism. If you have found how to put the STB in the Action menu then it could be a solution but as yet I don;t see it.
I am getting the no event message when I go into the guide section. In reply there is no STB connected but the option is there only if you have all digital satellite channels tuned inperhaps you need a software update to see it? I tried this on a friends Sony set in Ireland and all irish freeview channels gave a full EPG too.
